Elemental Cross

Elemental Cross

This reading is good for establishing where you are in the timing of a situation. Runes one through three represent the past, present and future. Position four offers some advice about how to proceed, and position five speaks to certain limitations in the situation.

1. Past

Position one addresses the past, relative to your question. It shows what has led to to your present state of mind.
Ethel

Ethel / inheritance

The rune of inheritance, ETHEL indicates benefit to you through gifts and help from family, especially older relatives. In fact death and inheritance are associated, but this rune does not necessarily bring them both. There is a tendency to be stubborn and single-minded where ETHEL is found, so it can indicate areas where you need to cultivate a more flexible attitude.

2. Present

This rune is for the present. In addition, rune 2 can represent your present STATE OF MIND,
Hagal

Hagal / hail

Surprise is an understatement where HAGAL is concerned. Where this rune appears, you must accept the realities of living in the material world: change is inevitable, plans change, the unexpected happens. While such disruptions are more often than not considered to be difficult or even bad, the fact is that if you "go with the flow", you will be much happier. Remember the adage, "Out with the old, in with the new".

3. Future

Rune three looks into the future. It says something about the RESULT.
Eoh

Eoh / yew bow

This rune is the bow, made of flexible wood. It represents the quality of ending without breaking, recoiling instead or moving aside from problems without difficulty. See your difficulties not as disasters but as hindrances which will dissipate of their own accord. In this way you will manage the problem safely and avoid pitfalls. Employ global rather than linear thinking processes at this time.

4. Assistance

Rune four tells you what kind of help you can expect in regard to your question. It can relate to other people, circumstance, or to your own efforts.
Ken

Ken / bonfire

The giving and receiving of love are seen in the rune KEN. For a male, expect to give; for a female, allow yourself to receive. The heat of such an exchange reflects the nature of fire in the rune. The positive creative energy of the spring equinox is expressed wherever this rune appears. Whether man or woman, you will benefit from the processes of both giving and receiving.

5. What you cannot change

Rune five tells you what cannot be changed about the situation. You can evaluate what this rune says in order to formulate a method for acceptance, but do not seek to change this rune's meaning.
BLANK

BLANK / karmic rune

Fate, destiny, kismet, karma. These are all descriptive of the nature of this rune when it appears. It is as though a veil is drawn over the answer so you cannot perceive it at this time. While it is difficult to trust in fate, it is impossible to change it. Things will be decided for you, so an accepting frame of mind will be your best resource.
