Ask the Norns

Ask the Norns

In Norse mythology the Norns were three female deities who spun thread and wove fabric to determine the fates of humans and gods alike. Often one of them negated the gifts of the other two or turned them into a curse. This reading provides yes-no answers to simple questions. Be sure your question is simple. Then choose the reading and evaluate the three runes to determine the answer. If you get WYRD as one of your runes, it is not yet time to judge the question or there are too many variables to receive a clear answer.

1. First Rune

Position one addresses the past, relative to your question. It shows what has led to your present state of mind.
Gyfu

Gyfu / gift

The rune GYFU appears to indicate a gift which will come to you. The gift can be a material object you receive, or it can be the talent or gift you were born with and which is now emerging for your use in the world. In both cases you have the capacity to act with intention, not casually accepting without any return. More than any other rune, this one points to the active/passive dynamic in relationships.

2. Second Rune

This rune is for the present. In addition, rune 2 can represent your present STATE OF MIND,
Ur

Ur / wild ox

Whereas cattle are domesticated animals, the ox is wild. This rune indicates that physical strength is a factor in your reading. Associated masculine qualities include vigor, determination, vitality and grit. These qualities are clearly not restricted to the males of the race; in a woman’s reading they represent strength used in a directed, assertive manner. Physical skill and training are important focuses in your reading.

3. Third Rune

Rune three looks into the future. It says something about the RESULT.
Eow

Eow / horse

The animal associated with EOW is the horse. This rune indicates the movement involved in travel or transport of goods. Its appearance suggests that whatever your question, you are on the right track and should continue in the same direction to achieve good results. Expect progress. Your effort will result in beneficial change.
